Project Examples

Working in groups of 3-4, graduate students in the Master of Science in Business Analytics program will tackle a business problem of your choosing.

Students will provide structure to the business problem, analyze the issue, and provide you with their insights into the issue presented. The program emphasizes technical skills, and students will be experienced in big data analytics, business intelligence, and data modelling.

Example projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing Market Baskets to identify interesting purchase patterns
  • Predicting customer behavior, employee turnover or loan risk
  • Website analytics, analysis of web logs to optimize web design and online sales
  • Market segmentation and identifying new target markets
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators and design business intelligence dashboards to help decision making

  • Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to make sure everyone is on the same page.
  • Be available for a 1-hour interview at the start of the project (virtual or in person) to make sure students understand your company and its needs
  • Provide requisite information and data so that the project can progress (NDAs can be signed)
  • Provide a Riipen skill rating on student performance upon completion of the project.
  • Create a free organizational profile on Riipen (if you do not already have one).
  • Complete a 30-second exit survey.
  • Pay a $400.00 participation fee to Riipen if approved by the instructor and successfully matched to students.
