Details

You are the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of “Whackamole”, a rapidly growing technology company. Your software is used by thousands of small and mid-sized businesses to manage sensitive payroll and Human Resource (HR) information. Until now, in-house servers have been able to keep up. However, recently the Operations team has been reporting more outages and less uptime. With several new products in the pipeline, you sit down with your team to develop a solution and decide whether to continue onsite hosting or move to offsite servers.

Prepare an analysis in a “make or buy” scenario to decide whether to host key business applications on-site or to use outsourced cloud services.

Deliverables

Prepare a 2-3 page outline of the main factors you would consider in making your decision, and the key risks associated with each approach (in house servers vs. outsourced cloud services).
